Public visibility controls
Agreed 5 October 2026. Pets' photo-public controls are the reference for this family-wide visual convention. Apply it when adding or updating publication controls in any Amoleo product.
- A blue globe means public sharing is enabled for the item or profile.
- A grey globe means public sharing is off. Never use the product accent to indicate public visibility: this meaning stays consistent across products.
- Use
#1976d2on light surfaces and#64b5f6on dark surfaces. Choose by the rendered surface, including product themes, rather than the OS preference. - Keep the globe blue in an Edit public profile action when sharing is on; style its label and button using the product's normal action treatment.
- An interactive globe has at least a 44px target, visible focus, an accessible
name explaining the state/action, and
aria-pressed. A decorative status globe beside a labelled action is hidden from assistive technology; include the visibility state in accompanying text or the action's accessible name. - Explain unfamiliar controls: "Press a globe to change what's shared. A blue globe means sharing is on; a grey globe means it's off." Say whether changes save immediately or require Save.
- Preserve permission, moderation, consent and publication gates. If enabled sharing is blocked by another gate, explain why beside the control.
- Turning a profile off belongs with visibility settings, not deletion or a danger zone. Explain what stops being public and what saved data is kept. Preserve existing confirmation where applicable. Terms/consent acceptance remains an explicit agreement, not a globe toggle.
Adoption: Pets implements this locally in the current private-profile work. Other products have not been audited or migrated as part of this change. There is no automated family checker yet; review these states when adopting the pattern. This document is the authoritative shared specification.
